Alternatives
A multi-step alternatives development and screening process was used to identify the Preferred Alternative being studied in detail in the Documented Categorical Exclusion. The alternatives development and screening process involved the following steps:
- Developed purpose and need statement
- Developed evaluation criteria
- Developed alternatives
- Conducted preliminary alternatives screening
- Conducted alternatives refinement and more detailed evaluation, identifying a recommended Preferred Alternative
Both the Preferred Alternative and the No-Action Alternative are being fully evaluated in the Documented Categorical Exclusion.
The Steamboat Springs City Council and the Board of County Commissioners both approved the Preferred Alternative recommended at their joint workshop on June 22, 2009. The recommended Preferred Alternative can be viewed under the Public Process tab or here. Design refinements are currently being done as part of the prelminary engineering process and will be further documented in the Catex.
